On 25 November, a Workshop about decarbonization corresponding to the European project SMARTDEC (Smart Cluster for Marine Decarbonisation) took place in Matosinhos, near Porto. This workshop has been a satellite event of the Business2Sea 2025 conference.
During the workshop, SUPRASYS presented the SUPRASHORE technology, which consists of using an ultra-compact bipolar cable in combination with two power converters at both ends that allow flexible electric power delivery at different frequencies and voltage levels.
Currently, and with the support of Bilbao PortLab and the Port Authority of Bibao, SUPRASYS is in the final stages of development of a technology demonstrator project called SUPRASHORE-DEMO, within the framework of the PORTS4.0 program of Puertos del Estado, corresponding to the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
As a result of the presentation of SUPRASYS, the interest in transferring the demonstration to other ports has been highlighted, as well as the rapid scalability of the technology. Likewise, the potential of this technology in a large number of ports has been highlighted.
